Affirmative House

Affirmative House, located at 66 Lakecrest Drive in Dartmouth, NS, offers a supportive, community-focused environment with 10 one-bedroom units providing long-term tenancy for 12 residents. Through a structured Five-Year Transitional Housing Program, Affirmative House helps individuals with mental health challenges develop life skills, achieve stability, and work toward independence.

This community-based model actively engages tenants in local connections and activities, fostering a sense of belonging and reducing stigma. With a focus on stability and personal growth, Affirmative House offers affordable housing aimed at lowering relapse risks and promoting mental wellness. Eligible residents are 19+ years old, capable of independent living, and committed to employment, education, and mental health support. Participants also engage in regular meetings, the Tenant Savings Plan, and life-skills workshops to further support their journey.

Westwood Drive

The Westwood Drive location provides three safe and affordable housing units within a supportive, community-focused setting ideal for independent and transitional living. Designed for individuals working toward greater self-sufficiency, this location offers a structured environment where residents can develop essential life skills, foster connections with others, and build a foundation for lasting independence. As part of the Affirmative Homes Supported Housing Program, Westwood Drive integrates community-based support, helping residents connect with local people, activities, and services, which promotes a sense of belonging.

The Cole Harbour Road site, a semi-detached unit in Dartmouth, NS, offers a stable and secure living environment for residents striving to achieve personal growth and stability. This community-oriented setting provides access to essential resources and daily living support to help residents reach their individual goals while maintaining wellness and independence. Through the Affirmative Homes Supported Housing Program, residents benefit from a hope-filled model that aims to prevent relapse, reduce isolation, and support mental health. Designed for those aged 19+ who are committed to mental health support and community engagement, the Cole Harbour Road site accepts both self-referrals and referrals from families, hospitals, and community organizations, ensuring that those who seek stability and growth can access the supportive services they need.
